Be a non-anxious presence to those hospitalized or preparing for surgery.
After a brief visit, offer to pray with the person(s).
Submit visitation report.
Time commitment varies dependent upon number on team, i.e. frequency of visits, and number of members/patients.
Protocol will be sent to those who will visit.
HOMEBOUND/CARE FACILITY VISITATION
Represent the church by sharing Christ’s love with the one who is living in a care facility or who is homebound.
Deliver Upper Room and latest church communication.
Offer to pray with the person(s), asking how you might specifically pray for them.
Visit at least one time per month and make a phone call or send a note one time during the month.
Time commitment: minimum of 1 hour per person; if member is bedridden, time will be less
COMMUNION STEWARDS FOR THE HOMEBOUND AND THOSE IN CARE FACILITIES
Represent the church by sharing Christ’s love through the sacrament of Holy Communion with the one who is living in a care facility or who is homebound.
Pick up traveling communion bag from the altar after worship and communion liturgy.
After a brief visit, use the liturgy provided as you “extend the table” to the one unable to be served during worship.
Report any concerns about the member to Pastor Donna.
Time commitment: approximately 30 minutes per person
HOSPITAL FOLLOW-UP CALLS
Represent the church by sharing Christ’s love through a brief, friendly call to persons after they are discharged from the hospital.
A list of persons to call will be emailed to callers with the persons’ phone numbers.
Express the church’s continued concern, prayers, and support during their time of recovery.
Time commitment: varies dependent upon number, but calls are brief (5-10 minutes) as the person is still recovering
Assist with the reception following a funeral or memorial service at the church.
Greet and usher, if necessary, for the service.
Address the cards that are sent at the one-year anniversary of a loved one’s death.
Assist with arranging altar flowers into smaller bouquets on Mondays. (skills needed)
Deliver the flowers to those hospitalized, homebound, or living in care facility .(persons are selected by the weekly flower delivery team)
Ensure the person knows you represent the church and bring Christ’s love to them.
Time commitment: varies based on number of arrangements available, but approximately 1-2 hours per month (different team delivers weekly)
Meet monthly to sew, piece, assemble and quilt quilts that are delivered by the pastors to those who are seriously ill.
Time commitment: 3+ hours per month

CALL TEAM FOR ABSENT MEMBERS
Callers are assigned a list of members who have missed worship (or not registered their attendance) for three consecutive Sundays.
Callers express care for the members and determine if there is a need or concern that has caused the members to miss worship.
Needs or concerns are communicated to Pastor Donna.
May call from home or church.
Time commitment: varies dependent upon number; approximately 10 minutes per call
Provide transportation to worship and other church activities for attendees who cannot drive or are without transportation. Greatest need is on Sunday mornings. Church busses are utilized.
Requires some training but Commercial Driver’s License is not required.
FEED MY SHEEP
Assist with making casseroles and salads that are then frozen and shared with congregants and their families after hospital stays, death in family, family crisis, etc. (Food Handlers certificate is required)
Coordinate the delivery of casseroles and salads on a weekly basis to congregants in need; church staff designee provides names and contact information for those to be served.
Deliver casseroles and salads to identified congregants.
Join other members of the congregation in praying for specific needs and persons.
Communication of names/needs is done via email—weekly list is distributed in addition to emails as needs arise throughout the week.
